I Corinthians 15:1-4 gives a concise picture of the freedoms we have in Christ:
- The first fact of the gospel is that Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures.
1 Cor. 5:7
This means three things:
- Christ died as our sacrifice.
Hebrews 10:10, Hebrews 10:12, 14
- Christ died as our ransom.
Galatians 3:13, Romans 3:24, Col. 1:14, 1 Corinthians 6:20
- Christ died as our propitiation.
Romans 3:25
- The word propitiation means an atoning victim.
1 John 2:2, 1 John 4:10
- The second fact of the gospel is “that He was buried.”
Romans 6
III. Third fact of the gospel is “that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
- The resurrection of Jesus proves three things:
- That Jesus was dead.
- That Jesus rose from the dead.
- The resurrection of Christ showed God accepted Christ’s sacrifice.
Colossians 3:1
