THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD
PSALM 23
I. The Lord is my Shepherd. Vs. 1
- David knew the needs of the sheep.
A. Sheep are weak.
B. Sheep are foolish.
C. Sheep are thoughtless.
D. Sheep are unprotected.
E. Sheep do not have a built-in sense of direction as other animals do.
II. Our Shepherd leads us into rest and refreshment. Vs. 2

III. Our Shepherd leads us into paths of righteousness. Vs. 3
- Our Shepherd is a competent leader.
- Our Shepherd is a compassionate leader.
- Our Shepherd is a constant leader.
IV. Our Shepherd leads us through the valley of deep gloom and danger. Vs. 4
V. Our Shepherd leads us into a beautiful home at the end of the journey. Vs. 6
- Have you noticed the progression in the psalm?
- The shepherd (Ps. 23:1) becomes the host (v. 5), and the host becomes the heavenly Father (v. 6).
- The sheep become the guests (v. 5), and the guests become the children (v. 6).
- The pasture becomes a tent (v. 5), and the tent becomes the eternal home of the heavenly Father (v. 6).
